The other day I was watching tv with my sister and her friend when the Julie and Julia commercial came on. I have still not seen the movie, which I hope to rectify soon. I jokingly said to them “Maybe I should cook through a Rachael Ray cookbook and write a blog about it.” They both jumped at that and said I should, daring and double dog daring me. My sister then grabbed the Rachael Ray cookbook that my mom had in the house and started looking through it. They were serious! The three of us looked through the entire book and my sister kept saying, “When you make this I want to come over.” So, needless to say, I took the cookbook home. Who knows? I have the tendency to start something and not finish it because I get busy, but I think I’m going to try it. I moved into my own place in August and I really haven’t used my kitchen that much, even though I do like to cook.
My mom is a great cook and my sister is catching up to her quickly. I’d love to be a good cook and to be able to just make up my own recipes and have them taste good. I think in order to do that I need to practice on other people’s recipes. So here goes nothing. This will also stretch me because I’m not really into seafood and there are several seafood recipes in the book. Who knows, maybe I’ll discover a new favorite food!
So in this blog I’ll be writing about how it went as I made the recipes and posting a few favorite recipes from the book. I don’t want to get into trouble for posting too many of Rachael’s recipes. J My goal is to make one meal a week. With that pace it will take me a little while to get through the entire book, but I think it will be fun.
Here we go!
